Birds - Kingfisher and Purple Martins

One of the joys of lakeside living is the wildlife. We have a martin house, where six pairs of Purple Martins are nesting. We are looking forward to seeing their young.

In addition, we often see the Belted Kingfisher atop our flagpole or sailboat mast. See http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/Belted_Kingfisher.html for details of this beautiful creature. "A common waterside resident throughout North America, the Belted Kingfisher is often seen hovering before it plunges headfirst into water to catch a fish. It frequently announces its presence by its loud rattling cry."

Note: This blog was added because Amy complained there had been no changes to the blogsite for some time. As ever, I'll be polite and accomodating. Ok Madam?
